Lecture description

China has become a hotspot for international architects to realise their most daring designs. Consequently, building façades have grown increasingly challenging across multiple technical dimensions. This lecture highlights recent achievements and shares practical know-how for future design and construction projects. The lecture features three representative projects: The first is a tower façade designed by Pelli Clark Pelli Architects, which integrates external shading devices into structural mullions. The second is a cultural complex by MAD Architects, whose freeform geometry is entirely clad with segmented natural stone strips. The third is a state-of-the-art freeform glass façade developed by ZHA Architects, implemented through a bespoke bent and twisted unitized façade system.
