A House That Shares Needs Less — Material, Space and the View

Lecture description
The talk follows a single building: a housing block in Winterthur, built in timber and with re-used components. It asks what a house does not have to do on its own: material borrowed from other buildings; rooms shared rather than owned; a view that belongs to everyone. 54 people live here, which at the Zurich average would be 27 apartments. What is shared does not have to be built 27 times. With measured figures, including the ones that missed their target.
