Lecture description

Spectral signature of a target species, be it atomic, molecular or of a complex mixture, is an efficient means for its identification and quantification. Light source and detector covering the target spectral range are key components required for such an analysis. Hamamatsu photonics provides a wide range of light sources covering the optical spectrum from deep UV to Mid-IR sources, addressing the diverse needs of the industry. In addition to the spectral coverage, the design and specifications of the light sources also play important roles in the nature of analytical applications. This talk will provide an overview of various light source technologies and their pros and cons for analytical applications.
