Lecture description

Our approach to re-manufacturing is based on the fact that, based on experience, only 10 to 20% of cells are unusable at the end of the battery module's service life. Using an automatable separation process based on the BAMFIT method for determining the service life of heavy wire bonds, the wire bonds of the affected cells can be selectively removed so that these – and only these – cells can be removed from the assembly and replaced. Alternatively, the entire module can be dismantled and all cells disconnected. After classification, new modules can then be assembled and reconnected with wire bonds. These wire bonds can even be bonded to the previous bond sites, which is advantageous.
