To protect electronics, potting resins and conformal coatings are used depending on the requirements. In this context, conformal coating provides the basic protection, and complete potting provides all-encompassing protection. When it comes to the automotive industry, in particular, cost and weight play a crucial role without sacrificing performance. For this purpose, a new type of material and process has been developed that combines the advantages of the two technologies mentioned above, known as flood coating. In the presentation, the individual existing technologies are compared with the new flood coating as the next generation of electronic protection.
