LED technology has revolutionized the lighting and the display industries. The next evolution of this technology is the "large-area LED foils", enabled by hybrid printed electronics. The possibility to manufacture these LED foils in roll-to-roll processes has opened up several potential applications. Depending on the application requirements, the manufacturing processes and material stacks of the LED foil can vary significantly. This talk will provide insights into the different manufacturing technologies and materials used in LED foil production, besides highlighting key emerging application areas.
