The ‘Inclusion Tour: Experience the City from a New Perspective’ invites citizens to perceive public space not from their own comfort zone, but through the senses and challenges of other people. In three coordinated variants – for visual impairment, deafness and walking disability – the groups experience typical routes, stops and shops under real everyday conditions. With the help of simulation aids (e.g. eye masks, earplugs, wheelchairs, long canes) and live input from those affected, barriers that have remained hidden from many until now are made visible. In addition, participants receive practical tips on barrier-free communication, e.g. on how to make contact with deaf people in everyday situations. The tour is accompanied by experts in the respective disability, who provide practical information on which structural, acoustic, visual or tactile details (e.g. light signals, route guidance, accessible emergency information and digital communication tools) determine the success or failure of everyday routes. The moderator ensures that questions are addressed, observations are collated and learning moments are recorded for all participants. Each session is rounded off with a joint reflection in which experiences are exchanged and concrete ideas for a more inclusive city are collected.
