Being inclusive in terms of mobility is not a question of location – and yet the conditions for achieving this vary greatly. This panel discussion focuses on mobility in urban and rural areas and addresses how specialised bicycles, on-demand transport, e-scooters and other innovative solutions can make life in and around cities easier. Experts discuss current challenges – from long distances to a lack of accessibility – and present concrete practical examples that make mobility possible for all age and user groups. The focus is on demand-driven dial-a-bus services, interregional cycle path networks, delivery services, community-based car-sharing models and adaptable special bikes to enable equal participation. Both technical and organisational aspects will be discussed, such as financing, cooperation and legal frameworks. The session focuses on the exchange of experiences between associations, local authorities, start-ups and clubs. It is aimed at local decision-makers, parents, civil society actors and mobility service providers who are looking for inspiration and know-how for scalable, people-centred solutions in their region.
