Lecture description

People with impaired vision or blind spots face particular challenges in road traffic: inconspicuous kerbs, electric vehicles that are difficult to hear, or illegible timetable displays. This practical workshop shows how people with visual impairments can still move around independently and safely. Together with expert Bernhard Claus from the Bavarian Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, typical barriers are highlighted and useful aids are presented. Small exercises – for example with eye masks, smartphone apps or Braille flyers – sensitise sighted participants to the situation of those affected. The aim is to create understanding and to convey practical strategies for greater mobility and participation.
