Autonomous driving in public transport promises numerous advantages: it can compensate for staff shortages, make timetables more flexible and strengthen mobility in rural areas. In addition, autonomous shuttles increase safety, reduce emissions and relieve congestion in city centres. The vision: accessible, efficient public transport for everyone – around the clock. Initial pilot projects with self-driving shuttles are showing potential. The panel will explore how far we have come on this issue and what is still needed to implement it in urban and rural areas.
