At the heart of the electric vehicle and renewable energy storage system revolution is the Battery Management System IC. The BMS chip enables battery cell monitoring, charging, balancing, and safety. As the market evolves to larger battery cell stacks and demands greater efficiency from the battery, the BMS has to handle greater voltages and measure the cell voltage more accurately. This has a direct impact on testing: these same BMS ICs will have to be tested at higher voltages and accuracies, while still maintaining the same test coverage and test time. This presentation will cover how these trends and challenges are being solved with ATE equipment.
