Lecture description
From February 2027, products sold in the EU must have batteries that customers can replace themselves, or, for products used in wet environments, that a certified technician can replace. Devices therefore need to tell users when replacement is due. Shorter runtime between charges is a poor signal, because capacity tends to collapse rapidly past a certain point. We look at how to solve this with no added cost or power consumption in highly cost-sensitive applications.
