Biography
Leo Rozendaal joined Philips Research in 1989, worked for 24 years on television standards (HDTV, PALplus, digital TV) and connectivity applications for TV (interactive TV, HDMI-CEC).
In 2013, he moved to Philips Lighting (later renamed to Signify), working on wireless connectivity for lighting for both consumer and professional lighting applications. During this period, he was the system architect for some of the successful Philips Hue products (bridge, dimmer switch, motion sensor).
Since late 2019, he is involved in Matter - bringing the knowledge from Zigbee-based lighting systems into Matter, and he championed the bridging concept (which allows a consumer to keep using their non-Matter devices in a Matter context.)
He was elected into the Matter Steering Committee (which oversees the development of the various features), as well as a major contributor to and reviewer for the specifications that have been developed over the years. He is also an Alternate Director on CSA's Board of Directors.
Along with a series of colleagues, he links the work in CSA on Matter standardization with the Signify businesses developing Matter products (Philips Hue and WiZ).
