Nicolas Jäckel finished his PhD in 2018 at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany, with the focus on structure and properties of supercapacitor and lithium-ion battery electrodes. He continued at FEV as a system engineer for battery-electric vehicles using the methods of model-based system engineering. From 2021 until April 2024, he was working as the battery expert for Knorr-Bremse eCubator, an incubator focusing on the electrification of commercial vehicles. Now he is the BMS Teamlead in LION Smart, focusing on battery management systems for various applications
