Lecture description
The critical drivers of change in battery management systems (BMS) are evolving industry demands, which are necessitating robust system availability to ensure reliability under all conditions. Safety remains paramount, particularly for systems meeting ASIL standards to prevent thermal propagation. Tailoring the BMS is key, e.g., since advancements in battery performance require faster communication and updates of measured values to enhance algorithm responsiveness. Continuous on-chip impedance measurements (EIS) can provide high-quality data for algorithm optimization. New emerging battery chemistries require customized BMS features.
