Lecture description
Advanced carbon materials are increasingly being used because of their superior characteristics for high value applications. Likewise, ceramics are used where their unique properties cannot be replicated by alternative materials. This session will highlight the range of advanced carbon materials (including graphene, carbon nanotubes, MXenes, carbon-carbon composites and carbon fiber) and how they can be used in combination with (or instead of) ceramics to address key engineering applications.
