The "Energiewende" in Germany comes along with substantial changes in the mobility-, transport-, and energy-sector. This will increase the demand for new concepts to store energy in order to fit supply and demand of renewable electricity. Synthetic hydrogen and other energy carriers will therefore play an important role in replacing fossile fuels. This enables the use of synthetic fuels in applications where direct electrification is difficult or expensive, such as aircrafts, ships, long-haul trucks or construction machines. This talk provides an overview of the available options and their specific suitability for construction machines.
