This technical talk explores retrofit solutions such as the Engine Standby Controller (ESC) from EKU Power Drives, designed for existing mining equipment, providing immediate emission reductions and operational efficiency improvements. Through the implementation of advanced technologies like SOPHIA and the ESC, we demonstrate how low-cost interventions can deliver significant returns by reducing downtime and operational costs, while supporting the short and long-term environmental goals of mining companies. The presentation will give inside information about the application during a case study in a cold weather region mine in Canada.
