Holcim Academy for Sustainable Construction: Regenerating construction through education and collaboration

“Partnership is the new leadership” – such is the new mantra in sustainability, especially true in the construction industry. The built environment is a complex system of actors and stakeholders, and minimizing its impacts requires strategic collaborations across the value chain. In this presentation, Holcim introduces the Sustainable Construction Academy, a collaborative effort with external partners to educate the industry about sustainable construction, ranging from embodied to operational carbon, circularity, and regenerative cities. Presenting together with Holcim is one of the academic partners, Professor John Orr from University of Cambridge. He will introduce the concept of resource-efficient concrete construction, calling for designers to truly understand their building materials and to use the right materials, at the right place, at the right time.
