Biography

Manuel Ferre holds an Engineering degree and a PhD (with honors) in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), earned in 1992 and 1997, respectively. He is a Full Professor in the Department of Automation, Electronics, and Computer Science at UPM and a researcher at the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR UPM-CSIC), which he directed from 2016 to 2020. His research began at UPM in 1990 and includes a postdoctoral stay at MIT's Human–Machine Systems Laboratory in 1997. He has led or contributed to over 25 national and international projects in robotics and control, Currently, he is involved in Horizon Europe, Spanish National Program, and industry collaborations. His main interests include telerobotics, haptics, remote handling, and human-robot interaction. Prof. Ferre holds four patents and has published over 150 scientific papers. He co-edited two books and the Springer Series on Touch and Haptic Systems, and has served as editor in several journals and chair or IPC member of several conferences.
