Niels König is the head and chief engineer of the department Production Metrology at Fraunhofer IPT since 2013. He received Diploma on Physics from RWTH Aachen majoring in solid state physics and biochemical engineering. After joining IPT in 2007 as a research scientist and contributing to several research projects in the field of fiber optic sensors, he took over the group Fiber Optics in 2010. Niels König is assigned for lectureship for »Optical metrology and Imaging« at RWTH Aachen University. Niels König is member of the Board of 5G-ACIA and also serves as Vice Chair of the Working Group »Industrial 5G in Practice«, while coordinating the 5G activities at Fraunhofer IPT since 2017. Since 2019 he is coordinating the 5G-Industry Campus Europe, a large-scale infrastructure for 5G in production.
