Dr. Katrin Wudy

Germany
TUM School of Engineering and Design Professorship of Laser-based Additive Manufacturing at Technical University of Munich

Biography

Since 2024, Katrin Wudy has been an Associate Professor for Laser-based Additive Manufacturing at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), one of Europe’s leading universities and a member of the TU9 Universities of Technology Excellence in Engineering and Science in Germany. Prof. Wudy initially joined TUM in 2019 as an Assistant Professor. Her research focuses on laser-based additive manufacturing techniques with both plastics and metals, covering the entire process chain from material development and new process strategies to process monitoring and quality management in additive manufacturing. Prof. Wudy's core research topic is shaping the energy input during exposure in both time and space, combined with a fundamental understanding of the process results. This involves detailed investigation and control of how energy is applied in laser-based additive manufacturing to optimize the quality and efficiency of the production process.
