Jakob holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich, where he was part of the Graduate School of Bioengineering. His research focused on developing microscopic and mesoscopic imaging systems in the shortwave-infrared range, using novel organic dyes, rare-earth doped nanoparticles, and quantum dots to enable in vivo deep tissue imaging. His work has led to publications in leading journals in the field. Since 2023, Jakob has been part of the investment team at Vsquared Ventures, where he is particularly interested in early-stage companies in the fields of photonics and semiconductors.
