Leveraging LADS OPC UA: Lab Use Cases, Benefits and Our Role Forward

Lecture description
The Institut für Energie und Umwelt, Technik und Analytik e.v. (IUTA) actively collaborates with the LADS initiative within the SPECTARIS industry association to advance laboratory digitalization through OPC UA-based standards. LADS OPC UA is increasingly deployed in their LADS to enhance interoperability as well as automation. The Presentation will highlight IUTAs practical implementations and key examples such as real-time monitoring of sensor data and instruments, retrofitting legacy equipment with LADS OPC UA interfaces to extend their lifespan, and active participation in LADS hackathons to test innovative integrations. These use cases demonstarte tangible benefits such as reduced downtime, improved data integrity, and cost saving through standardized integration. Attendees will learn how their labs can benefit similarly to propel this standard toward universal acceptance in the near future.
