Biography

Elia Psillakis is a Full Professor of Water Chemistry at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete. She obtained her degree in Chemistry from Université Montpellier II, France (Summa Cum Laude), and her PhD from the University of Bristol, U.K. Her research focuses on (i) green and sustainable analyJcal chemistry, (ii) emerging organic pollutants and their photolyJc fate in natural and engineered systems, and (iii) the fundamentals and development of novel sample preparaJon methods. In 2007, she was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship at Caltech, USA. In 2025, she received both the Robert Kellner Lecture Award from the European Chemical Society–Division of AnalyJcal Chemistry (EuChemS-DAC) and the Silver Jubilee Medal from The Chromatographic Society (UK). Professor Psillakis has authored over 100 publicaJons in ISI journals, six book chapters, and received six “Top Cited ArJcle” awards, with her work a[racJng more than 11,000 citaJons. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Sample PreparaJon (Elsevier, Q1, IF 6.5) and as Specialty Chief Editor of Environmental Analysis (FronJers in AnalyJcal Science). She was previously Associate Editor of the Journal of SeparaJon Science (Wiley). Professor Psillakisis Head of the Sample PreparaJon Study Group and Network of EuChemS-DAC, an elected member of both the EuChemS-DAC and the IUPAC AnalyJcal Chemistry Division Commi[ee. She is also the Founder and Director of ExtraTECH AnalyJcal SoluJons, a spin-off company of the Technical University of Crete. She has served as an expert evaluator for naJonal and European panels, including acJng as Vice-Chair of the EU Marie-Curie Chemistry EvaluaJon Panel (2012–2013). From 2014 to 2016, she was Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs and Research at the Technical University of Crete and has twice served as Director of Postgraduate Studies.
