Prof. Dr. Jörg Feldmann
Biography
Prof. Jörg Feldmann is Chair of Analytical Chemistry and Head of the Institute of Chemistry at the University of Graz, and Honorary Professor at the University of Aberdeen. He is an internationally recognised expert in elemental speciation, metallomics, and environmental and bioanalytical mass spectrometry. He has published >400 peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters and his work has received >26,000 citations with an h-index of 80. He has received numerous international awards, including the European Award for Plasma Spectrochemistry (2015), the RSC Interdisciplinary Prize and Medal (2016), the CRC Award (2011), election as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE), the Aberdeen Principal’s Excellence Award. In recent years, Prof. Feldmann has established a leading research programme on PFAS and fluorine analytics, combining environmental exposure and biomonitoring studies with the development of novel fluorine-specific and PFAS detection systems (including fluorine mass balance approaches, ICP-MS/MS, LS APGD-HRMS and ¹⁹F-NMR). This work bridges environmental science with cutting-edge analytical method development to enable comprehensive, target and non-target PFAS assessment.
