Biography

Prof. Dr. Frank-Michael Matysik is Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Universität Regensburg, where he has served as Dean of Studies since 2024. He studied chemistry at the Universität Leipzig, earning his diploma, PhD, and habilitation in Analytical Chemistry. Early in his career, he conducted postdoctoral research with Prof. R.G. Compton at the University of Oxford and Prof. A.M.O. Brett at Universidade de Coimbra, and held a visiting fellowship at Uppsala University. His research focuses on instrumental analytical chemistry, including electroanalysis, mass spectrometry, separation science, and hyphenated analytical systems. He has edited three books, holds seven patents, and published around 200 scientific articles. Prof. Matysik has received numerous honors, including the Metrohm Prize, Heyrovsky-Ilkovic-Nernst Lectureship Award, Fresenius Lectureship, and honorary membership in the Czech Chemical Society. Actively engaged in the scientific community, he has served on editorial boards, led working groups, and contributed to committees and foundations that shape analytical chemistry nationally and internationally.
