Dr. Xenia Trier
Biography
Xenia Trier is an analytical chemist with more than two decades of experience in PFAS science and policy. Since 2002, she has worked across research, regulation, and chemical management, with a strong focus on persistent substances. From 2016–2022, she served at the European Environment Agency,
where she helped highlight PM challenges in the SOER2020 assessment and contributed to the EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability and PFAS strategy, including work on early warning systems, human biomonitoring, data platforms, circularity, and safe-and-sustainable-by-design approaches. Since 2022, she has been an associate professor at the University of Copenhagen, developing
chromatographic–mass-spectrometric methods and analytical strategies supporting regulation, particularly for upstream prevention and emissions of persistent substance groups. She leads the EU Soil Mission project ARAGORN and contributes to the EU projects PARC and PFAROS, the Global PFAS Science Panel, and the management of the Danish PFAS Center.
