Biography

Dr. Kevin Dennehy is an infection immunologist in the Institute for Laboratory Medicine and Microbiology, University Hospital Augsburg. He completed his PhD at the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, in 1999 within the Glaxo Wellcome “Action TB” program. From 2000 to 2004 he was a post-doctoral scientist with Thomas Hünig at the University of Würzburg working on the mechanism of CD28 superagonist stimulation of T-cells. He then moved to the University of Cape Town from 2005 to 2007 to work in the laboratory of Gordon Brown on pattern recognition receptors of fungal pathogens. From 2007 to 2018 he worked at the University Hospital Tübingen/German Center for Infection Research under Alex Steinle and later Gerhard Jahn, mainly on adenoviral targets for adoptive T-cell transfer therapy, where he completed his habilitation in 2017. In 2020 he joined the University Hospital Augsburg, under Reinhard Hoffmann, working mainly on pulmonary HSV-1 reactivation in intensive care patients.
