Biography
Dr. Janet Riedl graduated in Chemistry (2005) and Toxicology (2014) at the University of Leipzig (Germany). She was a doctoral student at the Helmholtz Centre of
Environmental Research in Leipzig and received her Ph.D. (2014) for the application of metabolomics in ecotoxicology from the Technical University Bergakademie
Freiberg (Germany). Since 2012, she works as a senior researcher at the German
Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in Berlin (BfR) in the Expert Office for the Import Control of Wine. Here, she is responsible for establishing spectroscopy-based nontargeted approaches for the authentication of wine and feed materials. She is engaged in moving food and feed fingerprinting from proof-of-principle studies to routine
applications (validation, standardization, automation). Her research focus is on the diagnostic power of non-targeted analytical approaches with a special interest for data handling and detection of unknowns.
