Dr. Gert Blankenstein

Gert Blankenstein obtained his Ph.D. in microbiology and molecular genetics from the University of Düsseldorf and has held an academic appointment as Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark, where he established and led a research group focused on microtechnology for life science applications. His scientific and industrial career spans over three decades with a strong emphasis on microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip systems, flow cytometry, molecular diagnostics, and cell-based assays. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and is named inventor on over 60 patents in the fields of diagnostics, microfluidics, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical technology. Currently, as Senior Director of Advanced Development at Werfen, he leads the development of next-generation diagnostic platforms while addressing emerging trends in digital and mobile healthcare.
