Biography

Dr. Georg Dierkes studied food chemistry at the University of Wuppertal from 2002 to 2007. He completed his doctorate in the group of Prof. Helmut Guth (University of Wuppertal) from 2007 to 2012. This was followed by two postdoctoral fellowships in human biomonitoring at the Institute for Prevention and Occupational Medicine (Bochum) and in clinical chemistry at the University Hospital Bonn. Since 2015, he has been a researcher at the Federal Institute of Hydrology in the Water Chemistry Department. There, he devolved analytical methods for the quantification of micropollutants in complex environmental matrices. One focus is on the quantification of microplastics using py-GC/MS and other techniques.
