Dr. Antonia Malissa
Biography
After completing her Master’s studies in Technical Chemistry at TU Wien, Antonia Malissa pursued her PhD at the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics (TU Wien), earning her doctorate in 2025. Her thesis, “DECODE – Development of a Multi-Analytical Strategy for the Biocodicological Study of Parchment Degradation”, funded by a DOC fellowship from the Austrian Academy of Sciences, focused on integrating MALDI mass spectrometry imaging for spatial proteomics and lipidomics with FTIR and Raman imaging to improve the understanding of parchment degradation and early damage assessment. As a postdoctoral researcher, she continues to apply her expertise in spatial omics and multimodal imaging to study degradation processes in cultural heritage, as well as stress-induced molecular alterations in the extracellular matrix.
