Dr. Christian Janfelt
Biography
Christian Janfelt is associate professor at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on the development and application of mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) for spatially resolved chemical analysis of biological samples. He works with both Desorption electrospray ionization (DESI) and Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) MSI to study the distribution of drugs, metabolites, and endogenous biomolecules in tissues.
His primary research area is the use of MSI in drug development, where his work supports studies of drug distribution and tissue exposure in preclinical models. In addition, his research includes applications within cancer research and plant science, where MSI is used to investigate molecular organization and biochemical processes in complex biological systems.
Christian Janfelt has authored or co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed scientific publications. His work combines method development with practical applications, with the aim of advancing MSI as a robust and versatile tool for pharmaceutical and biomedical research.
