The spatial analysis in patient tissues offers new insights into the organisation and dependencies of the proteome in the 3-dimensional space of biological structures. While these dependencies are largely not understood the differentiation between cell types become blurry with regards to their spatial proteomes. In this presentation, I will showcase topographic proteomics to systematically map the deep proteome in tissue samples, in order to discover new, proteome specific phenotypes of disease that provide new insights to disease mechanisms and their spatial dependencies. Further I will explore and challenge cell type definitions based on the spatial single-cell proteome in multicellular 3D model systems.
