Lecture description
While the digitization of workflows enables increases in productivity, it necessitates rethinking the ways we do information security. Purely physical approaches are no longer sufficient, a more holistic mindset to secure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our data is required.
This talk is set out to answer the following questions:
• What is information security and why should I care (both in the medical field and in general)?
• Medical records, protected health information, personally identifiable information. . . who gives?
• What should I protect against? An introduction to threat modeling.
• Convenience, complexity and competency.
• How can free and open source software help to mitigate infosec threats?
• Is security even possible? Steps you (as an individual) can take.
• How can this be translated into a corporate setting, especially in the medial field?
